Conceived with essential mid-season and summer layering in mind, this is our take on a classic, rough and ready chore jacket.
An icon of 19th century blue collar workwear and lovingly adopted by everyone from painters to gardeners and trendy town folk ever since, the enduring appeal of a chore jacket lies in its rugged simplicity.
Unstructured and unlined, with this interpretation we have opted for a deliberately paired back design constructed from a durable, shower proof blend of dry waxed cotton and linen in a deep petrol blue. Come shower or shine, simply throw on for a confidently casual extra layer.
Whilst explicitly designed for throwing on, alas this jacket is not one for throwing in the washing machine.
The subtle blend of cotton and linen is technically machine washable. However, when testing this in practice on a standard wash, we found that it was prone to shrinking. Furthermore the lightly waxed (and therefore splash proof) finish on the fabric is degraded by conventional machine washing.
We therefore recommend spot washing with a damp cloth wherever possible. If absolutely necessary, hand washing with Luke warm water is advised.
Always hang out to dry and iron on a low temperature if required.
