A product of the age old manufacturing traditions and skilled craftsmanship that can still be found at the heart of the Yorkshire textile industry, this 100% British wool and British made gilet features one of two styles of Shetland tweed that have been exclusively designed, woven and finished for us in the Colne Valley on the outskirts of Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.
Featuring a rich melange of subtle blues and smokey grey tones, this hardwearing and supremely versatile outer fabric has been paired with a range of classic Darzi design details including contrasting welted pocket trims, Nehru collar and a super soft organic cotton fleece lining. Warm, rugged and refined in equal measure.
Our gilet sizing has been through a number of years of trial and error and continues to be an evolving process. Any feedback is therefore always welcome but as a general note, our sizing for our Shetland gilet range has evolved to be a little more generous than some other brands so please consider the below guide for reference.
For example where one might normally be a size M, a size S may be more appropriate here.
The stated measurements have been taken with the garment laid flat, from outside edge to outside edge; the chest measurement taken from armpit to armpit, the length taken from top of the shoulder to lower front hem.
And finally, if comparing our Shetland gilets with our Merino style, please note that the Shetland style features a fleece lining so has a slightly snugger fit than our Merino style which has a plain cotton lining.
